CHARACTER CREW
Character is an important part of the LMS’s daily education.  The fifteen students that make up Character Crew have the responsibility to introduce the monthly character traits, work to make the character traits a part of our daily language, organize Red Ribbon Week activities, plan local service projects and maintain the character trait bulletin board.

CARDINAL ADVISORS

Cardinal Advisors is made up of a group of 8th grade students that volunteer their time after school to tutor younger middle school students.  The selected 8th grade students meet with 5th graders during after school study hall every Tuesday and Thursday during 2nd & 3rd Quarters.

EXPLORE TEST
All 8th Graders are encouraged to take the Explore Test in February.  The Explore Test is a test published by ACT to provide 8th graders with information on how they are performing as college bound students.  The Explore Test is administered exactly as an ACT test, except that the test is normed at the 8th grade level and allows 8th graders to compare their results with other 8th graders across the nation.  Registration information will be available at Parent Teacher Conference as well as sent home with all 8th graders in December.

CARDINAL TRADING CARDS
High School students make the best mentors.  As part of the Cardinals Building Character and Community In Action programs, Lawson High School and Lawson Middle School have developed the Cardinal Trading Card program to bring together seniors and 5th graders.  Selected seniors of strong character agree to sign a pledge to be alcohol/drug free through their remaining time as a LHS student.  Once a month the LHS seniors meet with the LMS 5th graders to learn about being a person of good character, staying drug/alcohol free, and making good decisions ending with 5th graders earning a Cardinal Trading Card highlighting a senior.
